Collection Highlight

As our current collection highlight, we’re celebrating Richard Avedon’s The Chicago Seven. The photograph, which strikes a delightful balance between gravity and levity, was taken in 1969 during the controversial trial of eight anti-war, pro-civil rights activists. Avedon leaves an empty space in the right section of the triptych for Black Panther co-founder Bobby Seale, who at the time of the photo session was being held in prison.
