Family Group

Sorel Etrog, 1964, Bronze with green patina

Etrog's ability to blend mechanical motifs, such as links, hinges, and wrenches, with fluid, animailistic lines is on display in this impressive sculpture. The three figures that make up the family group are not clearly discernible, but it is is their linking that allows for the wings of preotection that hover over them. From an edition of five, this sculpture carries both an imposing and a reassuring presence, and encourages reflection on the nature of human connection, a central theme for the Canadian sculptor.
